2025 Year in Review; Tulē’s Origin Story

As 2025 comes to a close, we wanted to pause and reflect on the year that set everything in motion for Tulē.

This past year was not about a grand opening or a finished product. It was about decisions, patience, and laying the groundwork for a new kind of wellness club in Davis, California. One designed to bring together movement, restoration, and longevity in a way that feels sustainable and accessible.

Here is a look back at how Tulē began.

The Search

At the start of 2025, we were looking for the right place to build a wellness club and spa experience in Davis, CA.

We explored a number of options across Davis and the surrounding area. One of those options brought us very close to purchasing a 1.5-acre plot of land. We entered escrow, spent weeks evaluating the opportunity, and ultimately made the difficult decision to walk away.

It was disappointing at the time, but necessary.

Not long after, we found the space that felt right.

A 10,000 square foot former thrift store in the heart of Davis, CA.

It was not perfect on paper, but it had the bones, the location, and the character we were looking for. More importantly, it felt like a space that could be transformed into an beautiful spa in Davis designed specifically for this community.

Making It Real

After months of negotiation, we signed the lease.

That moment marked the shift from concept to commitment. Tulē was no longer just an idea for a spa or wellness center in Davis. It became a real project with real stakes.

From there, the work began to accelerate.

Listening First

Before finalizing designs or amenities, we spent time talking with our community.

Clients, members, friends, and longtime Davis residents shared what they felt was missing locally when it came to wellness and recovery options. What became clear was that people were not just looking for another gym or spa, they wanted an experience.

They were looking for a place that made wellness easier to incorporate into their routine. A space that could support daily movement, recovery, and rest without having to leave Davis for Sacramento or beyond.

Those conversations shaped everything that followed.

Becoming Tulē

With that clarity, Tulē began to take form.

The name, the brand, and the vision were inspired by local roots and the idea of building something grounded yet luxurious. A wellness club and spa in Davis that feels intentional, calming, and welcoming.

Design concepts evolved slowly and thoughtfully. Ideas were tested, adjusted, and refined. Each decision moved us closer to a space that felt aligned with both the community and the long-term vision for Tulē.

The Long Middle

Much of 2025 was spent navigating the less visible parts of building an urban wellness retreat from the ground up.

Months of coordination with the city of Davis. Plan reviews. Revisions. Waiting. More revisions.

Then, finally, construction permits were approved.

It was one of the monumental moments that made it all start feeling real.

Breaking Ground

With permits in hand, we assembled an incredible construction team and began demolition.

Walls came down. Floors were ripped up. The building started to change.

What once served a very different purpose began its transition into a wellness club and spa in Davis designed for restoration, movement, and recovery.

With demolition complete, our pools begin construction this week.

Looking Ahead to 2026

2025 was just the beginning.

Not because everything is finished, but because the foundation is set.

As we move into 2026, construction continues and Tulē becomes more tangible by the day. We are incredibly grateful for the support, patience, and belief our Davis community has shown throughout this process.

Tulē is coming.

We are excited to open our doors in 2026 and welcome you into a new kind of wellness space in Davis, California.

Thank you for being part of the journey.
